life: Film Forum x Uncle Boonmee (3.12.11)

Director, film maker, screenwriter, actor, weirdo. All the aforementioned are descriptors of Mike, so when he invited me to see the film "Uncle Boonmee" I being a self-proclaimed movie buff and lover of all things creative was immediately wit' it. I was down. Down like the economy.

We arrive at the Film Forum purchase the tickets and see that the line for the movie is long, literally out the door and down the block. Which would lead one to believe that this movie is living up to its hype ("Uncle Boonmee" won the Palme d'Or award at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival). We take our seats in the theatre and literally 10 minutes into the movie I'm lost. Totally confused. This movie is moving slower than molasses on a cold day. About and hour into the film people start walking out. Those that stayed to endure this slow torturous death by boredum began falling asleep. dropping. like. flies. NOT much to my surprise the ending of the movie wasn't worth waiting around for. Can you say Anti-Climatic!  I would attempt to summarize this horrible film for you but I would only further confuse myself and honestly I'm trying to forget I ever saw it. I like to describe "Uncle Boonmee" as a long Seinfeid episode. A movie about nothing. Thanx Mike. : )
